Battle of Blue Savannah
The site of a Revolutionary War battle, Blue Savannah is located on the eastern rim of Marion County in the Little Pee Dee River flood plain. It is noted by a historical marker on the eastbound lane of U.S. 501 west of Gallivants Ferry.

Site Description
The Battle of Blue Savannah occurred on August 13, 1780, when Brigadier General Francis Marion and a band of Patriot guerrillas ambushed and defeated a force of 200 Loyalist militia. At the time, British forces occupied South Carolina and Marion's operations, including his victory at Blue Savannah, undermined British control in the Palmetto State.

The swampy battlefield is undesignated today except for a historical marker erected a quarter-mile away beside the eastbound lane of U.S. 501 west of Gallivants Ferry. Admission: Free
